The emphasis in family therapy is on the relationship patterns. This focus is sometimes chosen as a way of helping one or more individual family members, at other times the primarily goal is to improve the quality of the relationships in the family. Family therapy combines sessions with individuals and sessions with the entire family.

Your therapist will listen to each person's point of view, and will try to help the family understand the influence of each person on the family's concerns. Your therapist and you and other members of the family discuss goals and plan for change.

At LFCS we design a treatment plan for each family, but there are some patterns that we have found to be most effective. A typical treatment plan is summarized bellow:

First Session:
When parents are concerned about their children, parents often meet without out the children for the first session.

Second & Third Sessions:
Your family therapist will want to meet with some of the family members separately and with the all of the family members together, during the beginning of the therapy process.

Fourth Session:
Using information from the conversations in the first three sessions, the family therapist will formulate a tentative treatment plan. you will reviewed this plan together, in the forth session, and adjustments will be made to include your input.

Subsequent Sessions:
The focus of the subsequent sessions depends on the nature of the problems and on your family's preferred ways to deal with problems. One constant is that the therapist's participation in the conversations helps to take you deeper into key aspects of your problems and move you further toward possible solutions.
