18th Annual Home Tour Raises $17,000
Proceeds from the six-home tour benefit LFCS

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo., Dec. 01, 2005 - Lights, angels and Santa Claus were just a few of the themes at the six homes featured at the 18th Annual Holiday Home Tour on Saturday, Dec. 3.

Through sponsorships and ticket sales for approximately 800 people, the event raised more than $17,000 for Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri's Cape Girardeau office.

"In 2004, we raised $4,000 and had about 500 attendees, so this was a significant increase," said Melody Anderson, regional development officer. "The funds we raised will support the many programs we offer to southeast Missouri families."

This year's tour included the homes of Tim and Loretta Dodd, Rick and Tracy Blattner, Dave and Vickie Howard, Peter and Cindy Maher, Brett and Cherie Stembel, and Dr. Robert and Linda Sacha. Corporate sponsors included The Bank of Missouri, Bi-State Convenience Stores, Patrick Furniture, Realty Executives, Southeast Missouri Hospital and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

LFCS' Cape Girardeau office provides senior counseling, adoption, crisis pregnancy assistance, parenting classes, an Alzheimer's support group, an abstinence-only education program and youth mentoring services to the entire southeast Missouri community.

Lutheran Family and Children's Services of Missouri is a non-profit, statewide social service organization providing counseling, adoption, crisis pregnancy assistance, day care and mentoring services to the community. With offices in Cape Girardeau, St. Louis, Columbia and Springfield, LFCS touches the lives of more than 22,000 individuals annually. The services provided by LFCS are open to everyone regardless of race, faith, national origin, gender or age. Although Lutheran based, more than 80 percent of families served are non-Lutheran.
