Many programs and services are offered at no cost to area families in need thanks to generous friends, like you!

We’ve been helping Erica since she came to us a little over three years ago – she was 19 years old, alone, and pregnant. Today things continue to look up for Erica and her daughter, a healthy and active two year-old. Erica is plugging away at her second year of college with the goal of getting her nursing degree in 2011! Money is tight and life is busy, but Erica is working hard every day knowing that she is doing everything she can to make a better life for herself and her little girl. In our time working with Erica, LFCS…..

-placed Erica in the WINGS program, where she received unbiased counseling while pregnant. Erica made the decision to parent her baby.

-helped Erica find an OB/GYN, arranged pre-natal visits, arranged transportation to her appointments, and provided parenting education.

-provided rent deposit funds through our emergency assistance program so that she and her daughter would have housing.

-provided foster care for two weeks for her newborn baby as Erica transitioned from a shelter that did not allow children to an apartment where she and her daughter would live together.

-worked with Erica and an agency that specializes in career advancement and job-placement. Together, we helped her secure a part-time job and provided the resources needed to get her admitted into college and secure financial aid.
