Season of Sharing FAQ

Let the “Season of Sharing" Begin

Season of Sharing

Christmas is right around the corner. For many of us that means it is time to start shopping. But for some, there is no money to shop for presents. Often times there isn’t any money for even the basic necessities.

At LFCS, there is hope. The Season of Sharing program is designed to make the holidays a little brighter for families in crisis. Season of Sharing has been helping families for more than 35 years. This program is orchestrated by the amazing efforts of many LFCS staff and community members volunteering multiple hours to organize this joyous event.

Who are the families LFCS assists?

The people on our Season of Sharing list are individuals and families who are currently receiving LFCS services, are struggling with day to day expenses and would not otherwise be celebrating the holiday. Last year, with help from our sponsors, LFCS was able to give more than 1,000 children and adults a holiday to remember. LFCS Season of Sharing sponsors include churches and ministry groups, area businesses, schools, scout groups, community groups, individuals and families who want to help other families celebrate the joy of the holiday season.

How can you help?

All children and adults have the same hopes and wishes when it comes to Christmas time. Even if you choose not to become a Season of Sharing Sponsor, maybe you would consider buying a few items that will benefit one of our needy families. What could those items be? Think of some of the gifts you may be buying for your family or friends…it is probably on the list of one of our families too. Some of the items on a wish list include winter clothing, basic household items, toys, games, computers, and many basic necessities such as sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.

What are other ways to help?

Donation of cash or gift cards are also appreciated and will be distributed to families that do not have a sponsor. A donation of a single $25 Wal-Mart gift card can help a mother buy diapers, toilet paper and cleaning supplies – items that she would not be able to receive from a food pantry or with government supported programs.
